Background and Information
The order of MagiKnights is not for just anyone. Those wishing
to apprentice must be truly devoted to the welfare of others, and willing
students of balance. Light and Dark. Truth and Deceit. Self and Other. Apprentices
seek balance deep within themselves in all three of these studies.
Apprentices shall be tested with small assignments. At the
completion of three specific assignments, unknown to the apprentice, all Senior
MagiKnights are asked by the Council of Elders on the apprentice's readiness
to take the Honor Bond.
Full MagiKnights fill three capacities, depending on the type
of Magi learning they have undergone at the Magi Keep. There are Warriors,
Healers and Teachers. Warriors settle disputes and roam the realms aiding
the commonfolk. Healers do much the same, often traveling with a MagiWarrior,
and heal anyone who seeks aid, whether they be honest or unlawful. Teachers
often remain at the keep, or are sent out to cities and towns, where they
tutor apprentices, and children of those that can attend sessions.
The Magi Keep, built atop a plateau, surrounded on all sides
by 100 feet of steep wall, was built atop old stone ruins that had faded into
the unknown, lies at the southeastern edge of the plateau. The windows facing
over the steep drop are large and airy, letting in bright sunlight most of
the day. One massive opening, a perfect circle made of magickal stone masonry,
lets sun shine down onto the council table, which itself is round and made
of stone. Large communal bathing rooms
at either end of the building are open to everyone at different times of the day. Decoration within the Keep is nearly non existent. Everything is functional, beautiful, but spartan.
Only the most essential like desks, sturdy stone couches, throw pillows, tapestries
and rugs give the Keep the colors of life.
The Keep floor is a good 50 feet below the height level of
the plateau. This is because the plateau was strangely formed, like a bowl
with edges. The edges, or walls, guard the keep well, and are thickly solid,
except where the windows of the Keep are in the southeast side. The walls
slope down to the opposite end of the plateau from the Keep, where there is
a narrow road that winds around the platau. Above the road, at differnt distances,
are ledges where lookouts are held and archers stationed. The Keep is well
defended and not open to attack. At the top of the road, a portcullis with
iron gridwork and a huge thick wooden double door is stationed.
The Keep has three wings around a large courtyard filled with sparse tree
and plant growth. Secluded in this overgrown garden are three gazebo-s, each
surrounded by fragrant flowerbeds and rose bushes. Beyond the courtyard, separated
by a brick wall with wooden gates that are kept open spaced out along it's length,
the training yard for MagiKnight Warriors can be found.
